    the hotel bill - (humor)
    The Hotel Bill

Next time you think your hotel bill is too high, you might want to consider this:

My wife and I were travelling by car from Victoria to Prince George .

After almost eleven hours on the road, we were too tired to continue, and decide to take a room. But, we only planned to sleep for four hours and then get back on the road. When we checked out four hours later, the desk clerk hands us a bill for $350.00.

I explode and demand to know why the charge is so high.

I tell the clerk although it's a nice hotel; the rooms certainly aren't worth $350.00

Then the clerk tells me that $350..00 is the 'standard rate'.

I insisted on speaking to the Manager.

The Manager appears, listens to me, and then explains that the hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference centre that were available for us to use.

    'But we didn't use them.'

'Well, they are here, and you could have,' explains the Manager.

He goes on to explain we could also have taken in one of the shows for which the hotel is famous. 'We have the best entertainers from New York , Hollywood , and Las Vegas perform here,' the Manager says.

'But we didn't go to any of those shows,' .

'Well, we have them, and you could have,' the Manager replies.

No matter what amenity the Manager mentions, I reply,

    'But we didn't use it!'

The Manager is unmoved, and eventually I gave up and agreed to pay.

I write a cheque and give it to the Manager.

The Manager is surprised when he looks at the cheque.

'But sir,' 'this cheque is only made out for $50.00.'

'That's correct, as I charged you $300..00 for sleeping with my wife.'

'But I didn't!' exclaims the Manager.

'Well, too bad, she was here, and you could have.'

on the other end of the spectrum...
roarii's teacher picked up the "gateway" portfolio's on frida and took them home to read. this time he is quite literally packing them with him from spot to spot. (someone stole the origial batch for reason or reasons unknown. )

anyway roarii got his back this morning and he could hardly wait to bring it to me at midmorning break...

he got a "meets expectations" on the portfolio. that is the equivalent of a B in the outside world and that means that he has passed 10th grade and can look forward to stepping up as a junior next year.. oy vay. in two years my precious little "babe" will be a legal adult ( yea right... "boggoled")

side note.. his teacher gave the entire class a resignation letter. the teacher is quitting effectve june 11 2009.

other news from school... does anyone know what is going on in the heavens. a teachers laptop dissappeared and there was a fist fight at lunch time. on the other hand a perfect stranger called up to praise the children of my sons school, seems he was at lunch at a local restaurant and saw a couple of our boys do a 'good deed'. someone had left thier wallet on the lunch counter, he saw the boys look at the wallet and was extremely surprised when one of them turned to him and said, "sir, did you loose your wallet and is that it on the counter?"

"no, not mine..." thereupon the boys called a waitress over to let her know about the wallet. she regcognised it and restored it to its owner. after the boys left, the caller asked the waitress about the boys and she told him "oh those boys are from the local high school, they are regular customers here and very polite and very well behaved. we never have to worry about children from that high school."

the caller was in his words"stunned". to continue in his words, "children in oakland today are much more liable to "steal" than to do a good deed. to see two boys, not only do a good deed but praised to the skys by a local small business person was "amazing" and he wanted someone to know about it...

    fascinating captain.. just fascinating.

to all the moms of my acquaintance...
another mother sent this to me and it really made my day...so i sharing it with you...

    MOTHERS

    Real Mothers don't eat quiche;
They don't have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
    Are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
    Filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough
    Doesn't come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don't want to know what
    The vacuum just sucked up.

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?'
And get their answer when a little
Voice says, 'Because I love you best.'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth
Is not measured by height or years or grade...
It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother....

    The Images of Mother

4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!

8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!

12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.

14 YEARS OF AGE - Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either.

    16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned.

18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!

25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it!

35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.

45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?

65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
    The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she
Shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

Please send this to 5 Moms today...

If you don't, nothing bad will happen,
But if you do, something good will:

    You'll boost a Mother's spirits.
